Week #8 Assignment #2

The Impact of Internet Usage on Adolescent Self-Identity Development:

This article was posted by Gitty Adler. This was a fascinating article bringing up points I often think about. Throughout many classes we are learning the great benefits of technology, which are very true, but I feel the other side is being left out. The negativity's are being pushed to the wayside. Technology is great and comes with an abundance of advantages and benefits for the students but that is only when it is used correctly. Technology must be used in moderation. This is an important aspect for parent and teachers to be aware of and remember.

“Effects of Internet use on the adolescent brain: despite popular claims, experimental evidence remains scarce” :

Thank you Chana Mernick for sharing this article. I like the concept being discussed; the effects of the internet on the brain. This article was discussing how it effects the cognitive thinking of individuals. I do not know exactly what it is that the internet is doing but I do agree that is is messing with our brains. Kids are not using their brains like they used to, they are relying on the internet to do half the work for them. It is becoming a lazy world, no one is thinking. I appreciated this article it is important for people to be aware of these possible issues.

Technology addiction in adolescence:

Faigy shared a great article about the risk of adolescence becoming addicted with technology. Teenagers are at a great risk for addiction. They are exposed to so much technology and are encouraged to use it so often. Technology is great and has many benefits but you need to ensure it does not become an addiction, which can easily happen. It is important for parent and teachers to look out for signs of addiction of their children and students. It is best to help an adolescent earlier than later. Once an individual is addicted it is very hard to stop. Keep encouraging technology just remember the important word; moderation.
