Week 2 Assignment #4
An interview with an ELA teacher:
I interviewed Miss K. an ELA teacher for first grade. She is a devoted, caring, and serious teacher. She invents a lot of her time and energy into her teaching. She tries very hard to make her lessons exciting and invigorating for her students. She has 13 students in her class from a diversity of backgrounds. She enjoys using technology to enhance her lessons. She believes technology is the key to successful teaching, there are so many benefits that comes along with it. Students learn a lot better with technology intervention. Using technology enables Miss K. to teach all her students on a variety of levels. Technology is also very helpful when teaching her struggling students, it helps them thrive. She prepares many of her lessons using online sources. She creates slideshows and demonstrations to go along with her lessons and presents them on the laptop or projector. She also has 10 Ipads in the classroom that the students have the opportunity to use often. There are special games on them that help them practice lessons they have learned. The DIBELS test are also completed on the Ipads. She also uses music along with her lessons. She finds that music encourages the students to focus and learn. Music is also great for memory, it helps the students who struggles academically. Using technology does come along with some challenges too, she adds. Often the technological items are not reliable and malfunction, she always needs to have a backup plan. Nevertheless she believes technology is a MUST, and is a great additive to her classroom!
